If your Mokwheel e-bike is not working, check the cable connections on the rear axle of the e-bike to make sure they are not loose or disconnected. Alternatively, you can unwind the protective covering of the plug, pull out the plug, check for possible defects and then plug it back in.
Troubleshooting Guide1. Brake faultCheck whether the brake cable is loose or damaged. If there is no damage, replace the brake or brake lever and cable.2. Power Assist Sensor FaultStep one: Check whether the sensor cable is loose or falling off. If this does not happen, it may be due to damage to the power assist sensor. Second step: Remove and replace the power assist sensor.3. Walking mode errorTurn off and restart the e-bike (if this problem cannot be solved, you should replace the controller).4. Real-time mode errorTurn off and restart the e-bike (if this problem cannot be solved, you should replace the controller).5. Low voltage errorStep one: Remove the battery to check whether the battery voltage is sufficient. Second step: charge the battery. Third step: If the problem is not resolved after completing the previous two steps, this may indicate engine failure. Replace the motor.6. Motor faultCheck whether the motor connection cable is loose, falling off or plugged in backwards (if not, this may indicate motor damage, replace the motor).
Tools required:Nose pliersSocket wrenchReplacement brake padsStep 1: Removing the brake pads1. Prepare the bike for maintenance. First, turn off the bike and remove the battery.2. Locate the brake pads. The brake pads are located in the brake caliper on each wheel (see photos for illustration)3. First remove the brake caliper. Use a hex wrench to remove the two brake caliper bolts from the bike frame (Caution! Be careful not to lose or misplace the washers in the brake caliper bolts.)4. Use needle-nose pliers to carefully straighten the retaining pin and remove the caliper by pushing it up. 5. Remove the old brake pads. The pin and old brakes can be removed by pressing the leaf spring.Step 2: Installing the brake pads1. Install the new brake pads into the brake caliper. Install the brake pads in the same arrangement as the old pads. The friction material should face each other. Make sure the top hole of each pad lines up with the locking pin hole. Slide the new brakes into the caliper to complete the installation.2. Reinstall the brake retaining pin. Make sure the caliper is secure by carefully bending the retaining pin 90° using needle-nose pliers.3. Reinstall the brake caliper. Position the caliper so that the mounting holes on the frame line up with the mounting points on the caliper. Insert the screws with a hex wrench and tighten both screws evenly. 4. Before driving, reinstall the battery and test the brakes to ensure proper installation.
Tip: The best way to maintain the brakes is to use both brakes together and apply the rear brake first to avoid excessive stress on the front wheel and fork. Adjusting the brakes includes:- Checking the wheel to ensure it is fully seated in the frame dropouts. An improperly seated wheel can cause the brake disc to rub against the brake pads and produce noise.- Check that the brake disc is straight and in good condition. Damaged or dirty brake discs can result in reduced braking performance or noise.- centre the brake caliper by adjusting the positioning so that the inner pad, a fixed part of the brake caliper, is close and parallel to the brake discs. An improperly positioned brake pad or caliper can result in reduced braking performance or noise.- Adjusting the brake cable tension and checking the brake lever. These final adjustments help ensure the brakes are set correctly.
Prepare the bike for maintenance. Remove the battery and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to discharge the remaining power.1. First remove the left crank. Loosen the screw with a hex wrench and insert a crank puller to remove the crank.2. Go to the right crank using the same steps, first remove the screw with a hex wrench and insert a crank puller into the opening. 3. Test the chain once the new cranks are installed. The bike must be placed on the stand so that the rear wheel is raised and the cranks must be turned backwards to turn the rear wheel. Make sure the chain is properly attached to the chainring.
PAS Sensor TroubleshootingThe crank should be removed (see crank removal instructions).1. Locate the PAS sensor behind the left pedal to check if it is loose.2. If the PAS sensor is not loose, trace the wire coming out of the PAS sensor to the connector.3. Unplug the PAS sensor and take out the control unit.4. Locate the connection cable between the controller and the PAS sensor to check if it is loose.5. Inspect the inside of the connector for dirt, damage, or moisture. If the connector is dirty, damaged or wet, the sensor may need to be replaced. Replacing the PAS sensor1. Remove the old PAS sensor, disconnect the cable from the main control unit and unplug it.Installing the PAS sensor1. Install the new sensor, make sure the side with the arrow is facing the bike. Before riding the bike, reinstall the battery and test it fully.
The wiring harness connects various electrical components of the bike. If MokWheel product support instructs you to check the wiring harness, follow the steps below to ensure the connectors are plugged in and working properly. Remove the battery and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to release the remaining power. Turn the bike over and place it on the handlebars to avoid damaging the LCD display during maintenance. 1 Locate the control unit and all its connections. 2 Check if the cables are loose by unplugging and plugging the connector back in. Unplug and straighten the sides, do not twist them.3. Reinstall the controller following the steps above. 4. Before driving, reinsert the battery and perform a full test.
1. To remove the brake levers, first detach the brake cables from the brake caliper.2. Squeeze the levers to reveal the internal mechanism and release the brake cable cap from the levers.3. Then disconnect the brake connection cable by pulling it away and loosen the screws on the lever to remove it.
1. Remove the wheels first before removing the brake discs (see wheel replacement instructions).2. Remove the five screws securing the washer to the wheel using a hex wrench and simply lift the washer to remove it.
1. Cut the cable ties to release the connection cable and pull it apart. Then unscrew the screws behind the taillight to remove it.
1. Slide the front derailleur forward to release the chain from the crank.2. Loosen the outer chip from the derailleur to release the chain from the derailleur.3. Loosen the front derailleur centre chip screw.4. Loosen the centre screw connecting the front derailleur to the bike to remove it.5. Once removed, loosen the screw holding the shift cable and twist the cable away from the derailleur.Installation Instructions1. To install, first attach the front derailleur to the bike.2. Then mount the middle chip so that the chain runs over it.3. Mount the outer chip so that the chain runs over it, as shown.4. Finally, put the shift cable back into the front derailleur and tighten it.
1. Unscrew the headlight screws from the Front mudguard and disconnect the cable to remove the headlight.
1. Prepare the bike for maintenance. Remove the battery and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to discharge the remaining power.2. Test the alignment. Turn the pedals forward while simultaneously shifting gears with one hand. When using the derailleur, make sure the chain moves smoothly into each gear. Test by turning the wheels one to two full revolutions at a time.a. The shift cable tension may be too tight. Loosen the adjustment screw on the front derailleur. Loosen the adjustment screw on the rear derailleur by turning it half a turn or a full turn. b. The shift cable may be too loose. Tighten the drum adjuster on the front derailleur. Turn the adjustment screw on the front derailleur a half to full turn.3. Shift between all gears to test alignment. Turn the cranks forward with one hand while adjusting the gears. Make sure the rear derailleur moves the chain smoothly from first to seventh gear.4. Before riding the bike, reinsert the battery and test it completely.
